I'm sure you couldn't miss it, except the no so stylish logo ...

Windows 8 Conusumer Preview is available for free download on Microsoft site here, or even skip directly to ISO download page.

Please be aware that there is no rollback procedure and that you will either have to buy it, or reinstall your computer once it's released on the market so try to backup your hard-drive before upgrading, or try it in VMWare/VirtualBox/....

If you install Windows 8 using the Windows 8 Setup program, you won't be asked for a product key If you skipped to the ISO download page, you'll need to enter this product key:NF32V-Q9P3W-7DR7Y-JGWRW-JFCK8.

Want to be in the first Windows 8 Devs ? Microsoft is starting bootcamps to get started like this one.

If you had this issue when updating your Google Chrome version from the market, you're a vistim of a new Google Security Check for Chrome.

Google decided to force a compatibility check to verifiy that you are using one of the official Ice Cream Sandwich Builds.

The fix is to edit a line in /system/build.prop.

$ su
# mount -o remount,rw /system
# vi /system/build.prop

You will need to replace "ro.build.id=GWK74" with "ro.build.id=IML74K" with your favorite editor. Eg: s/GWK74/IML74K/ in vi .

If you are not comfortable with this modification people have already packaged the change for various platforms, like Eyeballer for HT TouchPad.

Hope this helps.

Are you using a cloud based password storage like Lastpass or Firefox Sync ?

How much confidence do you have in those ?

Do you store your eBanking or Paypal passwords here ?

Perhaps you should not.

All cloud based services are claiming they are secure, and I really hope they are but there are some caveat you have to be aware of before using such services.

First thing first, ensure the service is "protected" by a master password that CANNOT be recovered but still can be changed. How likely is it to lose you master password ? Yes, very unlikely, I'm sure you wrote it somewhere (That's bad) or know it by heart because you use it everywhere (That's also bad). You'll think I'm paranoid, I'm not, not enough.

You master password should be unique, strong and never written, ever. Unique because you might tell someone your dropbox password to print that document you need, your amazon password to check if your order has been delivered before going to the post office, and so on. You can't trust others, they will try to use your password to connect to you GMail, your Paypal, your .... anything. And guess what, if they saw your using <pick a cloud password service here>, they might also try it here too. And guess what, they will know much more about you there than what you'd have expected to.

You password should not be recoverable for similar reasons, let's put up a simple scenario based on real office life. You're at your desk with some browser open, some guy come up to ask you for anything in his office, you leave your desk without locking your computer... You'd never do that ? Perfect. Let's continue the story, your email client is open and/or password is "Always remember me on this computer", guess what's next ? "Reset password".

Now if you still want to store you passwords in the cloud, I don't mind, it's you, not me. By the way you should still think about free and open alternatives such as KeePass, a safe and cross platform alternative to the cloud.

Why using KeePass ? It's free, open, encrypted, works with Two-Factor authentication, and YOU, and only YOU know who can access it, your USB Pendrive, your home folder, not a stranger that Keylogged your password randomly.

Still sceptical ? LastPass Security Notice - LastPass Vulnerability - CVE-2009-1781 ...

Here are unsorted thoughts about the experience I collected on MobileIron that you might know about before trying the product

The iPhone support is quite good, if IOS is your target of choice, MobileIron is definetly a MDM platform to try.

Good provisionning support for VPN, Certificates, mail accounts, Wifi settings

Requires an Apple Enterprise license

Good public/company app store support

Android support is somehow messy :

No support of the native android mail app, (Android limitation)

Tightly integrated with "Touchdown" an App from Nitrodesk, which is not as good as expected and costs more or less $20 by device,

No good VPN support yet, (Android limitation)

Admin platform is quite usable with little training

Integration with Lotus Notes Traveler instead of MS Exchange is working

Jailbreak detection is reliable so far

We also faced a few issues:

Out of sync devices might not be able to sync again

Bad wrong password support (Esp. on password changes + android)

Changing ActiveSync settings might lead to HUGE battery + data usage

Here is a non-detailled tutorial on how I grabbed my old database containing my temperatures into my new Domogik installation

Domogik has a quite modular database approach, I was quite lucky as my schema was quite close to theirs.

Install apache2 + php5 + phpmyadmin on your domogik host

$ sudo aptitude install phpmyadmin

On your old host

Go to your table, Operations > Copy table to
Choose Structure + data, new table should be named `core_device_stats`

Check the schema used by domogik, at the time of my writing columns are as follows :

id date timestamp skey device_id value_num value_str

Check the device numbers used in domogik DB, table is `core_device`

Match your sensors ids with domogiks

Rename / edit your column to match domogik's schema

Export as CSV

Imports onto Domogik host

Enjoy !
If you need help, please add a comment, I'll help if the question is clear enough.
